I live next to a train track which at night can have a very moody atmosphere, listening to them whizzing by. These are both passenger and freight trains. All the sounds were recorded over the span of half an hour.

On november 8th 2019 the renowned steam engine the 'flying scotsman' ploughed its way through colwyn bay on its way from london to holyhead. . . This is the brief sound of it passing by. . . In my opinion, the welded rail tends to diminish the dramatic effect. . . In fact, i was surprised at how quiet the engine itself was. . .

Steam hiss, guard's whistle clearing the driver to leave the platform, coal being shovelled into furnace, piston starts to move, speeds up, train whistle (brief), sound of the steam locomotive fades and carriage bogey noise.
